The first two full-day seminars titled ‘How to Self Build successfully’ will take place this Autumn (dates TBC) in the BuildIt Theatre at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon. The seminars will provide attendees with practical knowledge of all the crucial areas of the homebuilding journey. Allan Corfield has been working hard to inspire people around the country to build their dream homes. He is an expert contributor to the Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine and a regular speaker at the homebuilding shows in the UK.
After ACA’s recent expansion, we now have a permanent office at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre. It is here that we offer our clients a Virtual Reality tour of their future home. In addition to this, we are now launching Self Build seminars, which will take place at the NSBRC this Autumn (dates TBC).

The seminars will be hosted by ACA alongside top industry experts within Self Building. All the speakers are highly experienced within their field, and will be available to provide one-on-one advice. Below you can find the list of the specialists and a short bio of each of them:
Self Build and Low Energy Expert
Allan is a Chartered Architect and ACA’s founder, the Self Build Architectural practice, working on one-off homes throughout the UK. His goal is to provide prospective self-builders with the inspiration, support, and education they require to build their own cost effective, energy efficient, dream home. Tom has worked in the financial services industry for 30 years. He has spent the last 16 of these, specialising in self build mortgage at BuildStore, providing expert advice to hundreds of customers embarking on major homebuilding projects and is widely regarded as a self build finance expert.
Brian has been involved in MVHR since the mid 90s and he is also a qualified BPEC accredited engineer and regularly commissions installed systems. Witnessing self-builders dreams turn to reality is what drives Brian. Even with his wealth of knowledge Brian is still hungry to learn and impart his experience to clients.
David attained an MEng in Civil Engineering Design and Management at Dundee University in 2006. During his career, he has obtained a wealth of experience working in the UK, Middle East and New Zealand working on a number of high-profile projects before joining AC Structures as Technical Director.

James is a construction project cost expert and has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, within both the commercial and private sectors. James founded ClearPlan Project Management Ltd with his wife Nicky back in 2009, which merged with Charlie Laing Ltd to form CLPM Ltd in 2014.

David is an authority in sustainable building and energy efficiency, with extensive knowledge in building fabrics, heating systems, heat recovery ventilation, emerging technologies and renewables, including heat pump technologies, Solar systems, biomass and also conventional heating systems.

THE NATIONAL SELF BUILD & RENOVATION SHOW
The National Self Build & Renovation Centre re-opened for visitors in April. The venue has offered a variety of courses and events to help self-builders and renovators make the most of their projects. July brings the biggest event at the centre, the National Self Build & Renovation Show which will take place on 23-24 July.
ACA have recently secured a permanent presence at the NSBRC, with Architect Jenny Chandela (US), who will be available on-site 3 days per week. Jenny will be available for consultations and to demonstrate the renowned Virtual Reality system live in the NSBRC.
