Large family house in West Lothian, Scotland

In early 2018 we were contacted by a young family who wanted to build a home near Edinburgh.

The family of 5 outgrew their current house and having discussed their brief with ACA, decided that an architect-designed, self-build route, would be the best option for them. The edge of the village site provided an ideal setting for a more contemporary structure, which signifies the village entrance. Featuring 2 gables with deep overhanging roofs facing the main road and long views to the north.

To the rear in its south-facing position, the private garden provides a setting for an open plan sunroom with a mono-pitch roof and large areas of glazing.

With four en-suite bedrooms, a large open plan kitchen/living/dining room and separate living room,

study and playroom areas. The house is linked to a double garage to complete the provision of the necessary space. ACA has worked closely with the Local Council to secure Planning Approval and is now completing the Building Regs submission. We expect to break ground early in 2021 on this energy-efficient family home.
